Fungal/Mold or Bacterial Growth

This is caused by an increase in moisture in the plants environment through overwatering and/or really high humidity.

Use the steps given to reduce the risk of fungal or bacterial growth:

  1. Decrease the humidity levels of the environment and keep the area sanitary
  2. Add an adequate dosage of neem oil to the watering cycle (Neem oil is a natural plant-derived spray). Another method is adding cinnamon to the soil (anti-bacterial/fungal properties).
  3. Increase the light availability, higher light prevents fungal growth from spreading further.

Note: Some fungal or bacteria is beneficial to the plant as these micro-organisms live in the soil and help root growth. However, if there is a change in plant health they may be causing damages.
